Foam Amsterdam’s annual young photographers exhibition opens in London
Foam Talent returns to London’s Beaconsfield Gallery with another strong line-up of emerging photographers from across the globe. Prestigious Amsterdam institution Foam Fotografiemuseum has selected 20 young artists for the show from its annual open call, which is now in its fourth year. Ghana’s Eric Gyamfi is among the shortlist and has also just won the Foam Paul Huf Award thanks to his recent projects examining how the medium of photography can shift time and histories (read our recent interview with Gyamfi here). He’ll now enjoy a solo show at Foam.
Durimel aka French Guadeloupean twins Jalan and Jibril Durimel have made the Foam Talent 2019 cut too. Nataal showed their cinematic and sensitive work at our special project at AKAA in 2016 (read our story on them here).
Other exciting names include Maisie Cousins from the UK, Australia’s Sophie Gabrielle, Ukrainian Valentine Bo, France’s Thomas Hauser, Daniel Shea from the US and Senta Simond from Switzerland. Together their work reflects the conversations and preoccupations at the forefront of contemporary photography and is pushing boundaries whether focused on fashion and portraiture, social political commentary or highly personal projects.
Foam Talent is on view at Beaconsfield Gallery Vauxhall, London, until 16 June 2019
