Exclusive: Nicholas Coutts reveals his AW18 campaign on Nataal

Nicholas Coutts’ goes rural for AW18. The emerging South African designer takes his collection into the wilds to shoot this dreamy campaign shoot and video. His signature handmade scarves and tactile knitwear pieces compliment oversized shirtdresses, layered tunics, pleated skirts and large totes in silks and satins. Unexpected volumes, graphic prints, artisanal detailing and a palette of sky blue, blood red and deep black all combine to give the collection an edge.

“AW18 was inspired by exploring the natural habitat of the Western Cape, particularly Bain’s Kloof and the Crystal Pools,” says Coutts. “The overwhelming natural beauty of the landscapes and waterfalls are expressed through the simple forms and strong colours of the season.”
