Nigerian songstress Olú releases a music film to accompany her song Aye, directed by Shaun Kalu
Olutosin aka Olú has recently released a music film to further explore the ideas of her spiritual song, Aye. The Nigerian musician originally released the single last year in two versions - Aye (About A) and Aye (About Z), followed by a third version featuring Femi Johnson on vocals. Now comes this emotive 11-minute video, written and directed by filmmaker Shaun Kalu, which continues the healing story of the song and takes into new realms.
This latest rendition of Aye, which is Yourba for Life, sees Olú play Lokoja, a character who surrenders herself to the waters in order to find peace. She meets her spiritual godmother and is born again among her loving community (all wearing local designer pieces by the likes of Maxivive, Bloke and Fruche).
From afrobeats rhythms to orchestral moments tvia soulful sounds, each performative chapter of the tale brings us closer to a place where ‘life is complete’. Time to feel the vibration…
