Fred Perry and Casely-Hayford celebrate intergenerational style

This autumn Fred Perry drops a mini collection created in collaboration with London-based menswear label Casely-Hayford. Established by the legendary designer Joe Casely-Hayford OBE, who sadly passed last year, and his son Charlie, the family firm crafts the elegant menswear that’s designed to be worn forever and passed down the generations. It’s this design philosophy that has informed the stirring lookbook, captured by Olivia Rose, which sees a diverse cast of young - and not so young – men dressed in the collection.

“I like to understand the world in which the pieces are going to live in,” says Charlie Casely-Hayford. “So, creating a moodboard is an integral part of that. I was interested in this idea of reportage photography that captures culture… Not too serious, just capturing real people.”

The collection itself takes its cues from the archives of both brands with Casely-Hayford’s eye for both tailoring and subculture styles giving some Fred Perry classics a sharp twist. A wool tennis bomber jacket is reimagined with a contemporary cut and a striped lining. Shirting with misplaced pockets nods to the idea of a father giving timeless staples to his son. A polo shirt is knitted in a heritage jacquard and a distressed knit compliments smart pinstripe trousers.
