Sharmaarke Ali Adan presents his first photo book, Hargeisa. The Dutch/Somalian
fashion photographer travelled to the city of Hargeisa to capture a new vision of Somalia’s young generation. For it, the London-based artist street cast male models and then shot them in a makeshift studio set up in a family home. “The idea was to imagine a modern future for the youth with their own representation, which was expressed through candid menswear styling,” says Ali Adan. “The focus was on capturing the realism and character of East Africa in a non-contrived and natural way.”
