Laurenceairline unveils a new campaign and atelier in Grand-Bassam

Grand-Bassam, the seaside town 40km away from the Ivorian capital of Abidjan, has become a favourite among artists in the last few years. And now, Laurenceairline has unveiled a new boutique and atelier there, too. Grand-Bassam’s lush landscapes provide the background for the brand’s latest campaign shot by visual artist and photographer Nuits Balnéaires. Named Mother Nature’s Dream, the collection features unisex pieces in black, deep blues and clay browns, all inspired by designer Laurence Chauvin-Buthaud’s memories of West Africa in the 1980s.

Modelled by Awa Sanoko, currently the most famous Ivorian female model, alongside another long-term muse of the brand, Roméo N’guessan, the pair appear concealed by plastic film. This, says Chauvin-Buthaud, is a metaphor for the “a mirage that gradually alters our perception of the world. [Once] altered, our inner essence is transformed and gives way to meditation and reconnection.”
