Nataal’s New African Photography II is on view at Red Hook Labs with all works for sale
Nataal’s New African Photography II is on view at Red Hook Labs until 14 May. The exhibition opening was attended by several hundred art lovers and collectors, who enjoyed the works by our nine participating artists - plus the special exhibition of Malick Sidibé - and music courtesy of Xander Ferreira of the Happy Show DJs.
We were also treated to a performance piece entitled If I Loved You by Wura-Natasha Ogunji and her three fellow female performers, which was inspired by the Frida Kahlo painting Self-Portrait With Cropped Hair, and is Ogunji’s comment of how beauty is often equated to social value.
The opening was followed by a weekend of engaging talks and intimate VIP walk-throughs with our artists in attendance, Girma Berta, William Ukoh, Kyle Weeks and Ogunji.
The show has received favourable reviews in the press, including Vogue Italia, i-D, AnOther, Amuse, Cool Hunting, Design Indaba, Marie Claire and Around.
