What the intro track video for Tawiah’s long-awaited Recreate EP
Tawiah marks the release of her much-anticipated Recreate EP this week with this bitter sweet video. As the title suggests, this introductory track sees the alt-soul singer/songwriter transform with the symbolic and cathartic act of cutting off her locks, while the piano-laden song tells of life’s search for love, freedom and self.
The London-based British Ghanaian musician has received acclaim from everyone from Gilles Peterson to Mark Ronson since she stepped onto the scene in 2008. She has been busy of late establishing and gigging with the musical collective Lima Limo, which has now also morphed into a record label. Making new music with co-producer Sam Beste, Tawiah is exploring a raw, live sound and promises a second EP and album to follow soon. Meanwhile, see Tawiah perform songs from the EP at Excursions on Friday 23 June at Ace Hotel London.
