Anke Loots steps into the light – and some beautiful shadows – with her debut solo show in Cape Town. Everything In Its Right Place at THK Gallery represents a visual journey through “life’s simple beauty,” Loot explains. The South African photographer studied art direction and assisted acclaimed artist Pieter Hugo for five years while honing her own meditative eye and reputation for creating quietly arresting images.

In this show, she situates still lives with nudes and views of nature both vast and close, which together capture pure moments of harmony. “The pairing of images is an important part of my process as it helps me clarify an ideology more clearly,” the artist adds. “Each image is carefully selected to lead the viewer into a visual narrative, and to build a world of freedom and contentment.”

Everything In Its Right Place is on view at THK Gallery, Cape Town until 3 May 2019
