Having recently released her debut album Enjoy Your Life, Lady Donli has come up with this series of photographs to embody the theme. The young Nigerian musician is fast becoming internationally known for her feel-good, conscious sounds inspired by her Hausa roots and traditional instrumentation. From the tongue-in-cheek lead track Cash to the self-love mantra Flava featuring SomaDina and Amaarae via the body moving Corner, made with her live band The Cavemen, the offering fuses her chilled out Abuja upbringing with the spice of Gidi’s nightlife. Likewise, these light-hearted images echo her authentic approach to creation and dedication to the fine art of enjoyment.

“We brought people who didn’t know each other together and simply asked them to try and have fun in front of the camera,” she explains of the shoot with emerging photographer Isabel Okoro. “Growing up we lose a lot of our childish playfulness and become more self aware and serious. So here we did away with all the strictness that I find on some sets and we just let people be themselves, which for me is the first step of enjoying your life. In my album I talk about love, happiness, kindness and peace and those are the mantras of enjoyment.”
